We've waxed lyrical about this simplest of Italian treats before, but when it's hot outside, Affogato has to be the most sublime way to finish off an Italian meal.
Said to be Milanese in origin, Affogato literally means ‘drowned’; a generous scoop of luxurious Vanilla ice-cream with a shot of good strong Espresso poured over the top.
Here at Boboli we like to serve it with our homemade ice-cream and the Espresso on the side so that you can pour it yourselves, enjoy eating either with a spoon, or waiting until it melts into a smooth luxurious liquid to drink (preferably both). Affogato used to be the perserve of those in the know, but we've made it a little less secret and popped it on the menu. It's no less special, we promise you.
